Zoomlion Ghana Limited
has set up five key waste transfer sites throughout Accra in support of
President John Dramani Mahama's big two-day statewide cleanup effort.
The goal of this cleanup
endeavor, which began on Friday, July 10, 2026, is to remove the massive amount
of waste and debris that the disastrous June 29 floods left behind.
These facilities, which
are situated in Achimota, Teshie, Mallam, Ashaiman, and Abokobi, are essential
for handling the anticipated increase in waste collection, according to Sophia
Kudjordji, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Jospong Group.
By enabling trucks to
return to collecting locations more quickly, these stations serve as temporary
hubs where waste is compacted before being delivered to final disposal sites,
greatly improving operational efficiency.
These stations are
crucial for sustaining steady growth because the closest landfill is currently
far distant in the Eastern Region.
A portion of the collected rubbish will also be delivered to the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant for prompt sorting and processing in addition to these locations.
To
maintain the city tidy and orderly, Ms. Kudjordji is asking everyone taking
part in the cleanup effort to make use of these assigned stations.
