An accused drug network
that was aggressively manufacturing and selling narcotic-infused goods to
Kumasi University students has been successfully disrupted by the Ghana Police
Service.
Between July 3 and July
5, 2026, 44 suspects were apprehended as a result of this significant
operation, which was headed by the Ashanti Regional Police Command and the
Inspector-General of Police's Special Operations Team. Emena New Site, Boadi,
Abuabo, and Ash Town were among the communities where 41 men and three women
were arrested.
Key suspects were
identified by the authorities, including Richard Boateng, who is accused of
making cannabis-infused alcoholic drinks, and Emmanuel Duah, 24, who allegedly
sold cannabis-infused toffees to students online. Along with nine casino
jackpot machines, police also confiscated a substantial quantity of illicit
materials, such as Tramadol tablets, cannabis wraps, and various
narcotic-infused mixtures.
The police are still
looking for anyone connected to this criminal network, even though the accused
are still in custody and helping with investigations. In an effort to keep
these illegal substances off the streets, the Service has reiterated its
dedication to safeguarding communities and educational institutions.
