After reportedly stealing GH¢308,300 from his supervisor's Mobile Money account, a young man completing his national service at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) is in grave legal peril.
According to reports, the
accused, who was employed by an administrative officer, lived a luxurious
lifestyle using the pilfered money. The prosecution claims that he bought a
50-inch Samsung television, a Hyundai Elantra saloon car, and a variety of home
furnishings, such as an air conditioner and dining table. He also paid his
sibling's tuition with the money.
On May 22, 2026, the
victim discovered that GH¢3,000 had been taken out of her account without
authorization. She found out that the money had been sent to the suspect after
reviewing her transaction records.
A substantial sum of
GH¢308,300 had been transferred from the victim's merchant account to the
suspect between March 31 and May 20, 2026, according to later investigations.
The culprit was given GH¢100,000 in bail with three sureties after appearing in
an Accra circuit court.
