In the Ashanti Region,
the Ghana Police Service successfully stopped 188 cars for a variety of traffic
infractions as part of a targeted enforcement operation. The Ashanti Regional
Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) oversaw this operation, with
vital assistance from a team from police headquarters and the central MTTD in
Accra.
The program concentrated
on major locations where drivers were observed utilizing unapproved sirens,
strobe lights, horns, and makeshift headlamps, such as the airport and Santasi
roundabouts. Additionally, some drivers were observed driving illegally on the
shoulders and verges of the road.
Officers seized these
illicit gadgets and altered car accessories during the operation. The drivers
received formal warnings for their behavior as well as education on traffic
laws to promote improved practices. This operation, according to the Police Service,
is a part of a larger effort to improve road safety and restore order across
the country.
The Service intends to
carry out comparable operations across the country in the future to guarantee
adherence to traffic regulations. In order to avoid fines and guarantee safer
travel for everybody, all drivers are reminded to rigorously adhere to the rules.
