After the Black Stars'
1-0 elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Colombia, Ghana's left
defender Gideon Mensah wrote an emotional tribute to supporters.
Mensah stressed that the
team's emphasis has already switched toward redemption in the forthcoming 2027
Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, despite the fact that Jhon Arias' early goal
ended their adventure in the Round of 32.
He said that the team has
a strong sense of obligation to make reparations for themselves, their
families, the country, and its African supporters.
Mensah added that the
club are determined to win their next matches and demonstrate to fans they are
prepared for future difficulties. Additionally, he sent his heartfelt
appreciation to Ghanaians for their steadfast support during the competition,
despite the challenging time differences.
Mensah emphasized that
this devotion is never taken for granted, acknowledging that many supporters
gave up their sleep out of love for the team. As the team gets ready to
reassemble for the AFCON qualifiers later this year, he continues to be
grateful for the companionship fans offered during the journey, even though the
team's objective was to make its supporters happy.
