A fresh forecast from the
Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) warns of continuous rain throughout today,
July 2, along the coast, including Accra.
Thunderstorms are also
predicted to form in the country's northern, middle, and transition regions
starting in the late afternoon. People who live in mountainous and forested
locations should be aware that early morning visibility will be diminished by mist
and fog.
There is a 40% chance of
rain during the day, and temperatures in Accra are predicted to remain between
25°C and 30°C. The northern section will experience significantly higher
temperatures, with highs of 34°C.
As the country continues
to recover from Monday's devastating floods, which received 169 millimeters of
rainfall—the fourth-highest daily total since 1995—this prognosis was released.
Tragically, those floods affected nearly 38,800 individuals in 25 localities,
displaced 7,761 households, and claimed 12 lives.
In order to protect
everyone's safety, officials are advising the public to exercise caution, stay
away from low-lying regions, and closely monitor weather updates after GMet
raised the coastal risk level to "be prepared."
