Carlos Queiroz's future
as the Black Stars' head coach is still up in the air. The 73-year-old
Portuguese coach later explained in an interview that he had not formally quit,
despite appearing to hint at his resignation on social media after Ghana's elimination
from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Black Stars
assistant coach Roger De Sa, he has not gotten any official word on Queiroz's
resignation. De Sa stated that he only saw rumors of an exit on social media
and that, in his opinion, Queiroz would have told him personally if he were
leaving.
Ghana's World Cup
campaign came to an end in the Round of 32 following a 1-0 defeat to Colombia.
Now that the competition is over, the team is focused on qualifying for the
2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Along with Ivory Coast,
Somalia, and The Gambia, Ghana has been placed in Group C. The qualifications
are scheduled to start in September. For the time being, both officials and
supporters continue to debate the head coaching position's status.
