Kweku Osei Korankye Osei,
also known as KOKA, is a New Patriotic Party activist and entertainment critic
who is currently dealing with severe legal issues in Accra. After a heated
altercation, the 48-year-old lawmaker recently appeared before an Accra Circuit
Court.
KOKA is charged with
disrespectful behavior and making threats against a police officer and his
innocent family. He has formally entered a not-guilty plea to every accusation
made against him.
At the Regional Criminal
Investigations Department, the problems started on May 13, 2026. KOKA went with
a friend who Detective Chief Inspector David Anaba had invited to be
questioned. The prosecution claims that within the guarded CID premises,
members of KOKA's group started surreptitiously filming and taking pictures of
the investigator.
They did not provide a
coherent explanation when questioned about their lack of authorization. Later,
KOKA gave an interview to the media, which went viral on social media. He
allegedly threatened the detective on the video, saying he would deal with him
and his family.
KOKA was given GH¢200,000
bail by the court, which required three sureties secured by real estate.
Investigations are ongoing, and his next court appearance is set for July 15,
2026.
