All students entering
institutions and graduates beginning their national service should be required
to undergo drug testing, according to the Narcotics Control Commission. This
concept was presented by NACOC Deputy Director-General Alexander Twum-Barimah
in a Joy FM interview.
He thinks that routine
medical exams that are necessary for university entrance should include drug
testing. With the use of this early detection technology, schools will be able
to identify substance usage and offer impacted pupils the appropriate support.
Additionally, NACOC
recommends requiring graduates to take these tests prior to starting their
national service. According to Mr. Twum-Barimah, young people will be
discouraged from using drugs if they are aware that they will be screened prior
to graduation, national service, or future employment in security services.
In order to assist
potential employers in making well-informed hiring decisions, the commission
also promotes disseminating these test results.
