BECE 2026: WAEC Hammers Malpractice with Mass Cancellations

The preliminary results for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination have been made public by the West African Examinations Council. In all, 620,243 candidates took the tests at 2,237 locations around the country. Many students are facing harsh disciplinary procedures because of numerous exam malpractices, even though the majority of students can now check their scores online.

 

WAEC canceled the subject results of 496 applicants and the whole results of 105 candidates after conducting extensive investigations. In addition, authorities withheld the complete results of 48 candidates and the subject results of 119 candidates while they underwent additional review. Subject results for an additional 2,722 candidates from 229 schools were locked down for further review; final choices are anticipated by August 31, 2026.
