The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has
formally refuted claims that a National Service member misappropriated
GH¢308,300 from its coffers.
The authority explained that these reports are false and
deceptive in a statement issued on July 7, 2026. The money at the heart of this
investigation does not belong to the organization and was not stolen from any
of its official accounts, the DVLA stressed.
The authority clarified that the issue concerns a private
disagreement between two people, one of whom is currently under contract with
the DVLA after serving in the National Service. As a result, the DVLA has not
experienced any financial loss, and the occurrence has no bearing whatsoever on
the authority's finances or day-to-day operations.
In order to prevent the misleading impression that public
monies were embezzled, the DVLA is requesting the public and media outlets to
portray the story accurately. The Authority also gave everyone assurances that
it continues to maintain the highest standards of accountability and integrity
and that its financial systems are completely safe.
