After a man admitted to the Awutu Bereku Health Center
allegedly collapsed and died while walking out to get sachet water, the
residents of Awutu Bereku in the Awutu Senya West District are furious and in
shock. The community is outraged by the tragic event and is calling on
authorities to provide an explanation.
The man, who is thought to be in his late 50s, got out
of his hospital bed to get drinking water, according to information gathered.
It is reported that he abruptly passed out close to the Awutu Bereku Police
Station after walking a short distance from the health center. Sadly, he passed
away before assistance could save him.
Residents have reacted strongly to the situation,
accusing the police and medical personnel of being slow to intervene. Many
people of the community contend that a newly admitted patient should not have
been permitted to leave the institution in pursuit of necessities like water.
They also wonder why help was not given right away after he fell so near the
police station.
After that, police took the body to the mortuary and
said that before they could start any investigations, they needed the
deceased's relatives to identify him. In the meantime, there is still a lot of
tension in Awutu Bereku as locals want responsibility and improved treatment at
the medical facility in order to stop future tragedies of this kind.
