Mother and Son Among Three Killed in Ohene Nkwanta Crash |
Three persons, including
a mother and her small kid, were killed in a sad accident near Ohene Nkwanta on
the Accra-Kumasi Highway. Numerous more people have been hurt in the Sunday
event and are being treated.
When a BMW with
registration GE 4700-20, which was heading from Kumasi toward Accra, did an
improper overtake, the accident reportedly occurred close to the Rider Iron and
Steel Company. Both cars suffered significant damage when the BMW and a Toyota
Yaris cab, registration AS 3861-24, crashed head-on.
According to witnesses,
the hit was so severe that the driver and one passenger in the taxi perished
instantaneously. Sadly, a female passenger who was thought to be the mother was
declared dead when she arrived at the Hope Care Hospital in Odumasi.
Other occupants of the
BMW were also transported to Hope Care Hospital for emergency care after
suffering injuries of various intensities.
While investigations are
ongoing, the deceased's remains have been placed in the Konongo Government
Hospital Morgue.
Ohene Nkwanta locals who
hurried to the scene called it one of the most horrific incidents to happen in
the region this year. Many blamed speeding and careless overtaking, which still
frequently result in collisions along the busy Accra-Kumasi road.
To stop such preventable
tragedies, authorities are advising drivers to drive more carefully,
particularly during rush hours.
This tragic event serves
as a sobering reminder that even a brief moment of frustration while driving
can result in irreparable harm.
