The family of the late
Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, better known by his stage name Daddy Lumba, has
formally demanded an impartial and open inquiry into the events leading up to
his premature passing in Ghana on July 26, 2025.
There are differing
accounts of what actually happened to the renowned singer before his death,
according to a statement released by the Family Secretary on behalf of the
deceased's wife, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh, and her older sister, Ms. Ernestina
Fosuh.
According to an
eyewitness, Mr. Fosuh had brought a guest to his house the night before the
event. However, a woman residing in the house allegedly kept the friend from
visiting him. The friend learned about Mr. Fosuh's passing through a startling
phone call a few hours later.
However, according to a
police and coroner's report from Accra, Mr. Fosuh, who had diabetes, complained
of pain in his legs and waist, had an MRI, and passed away at the Bank Hospital
while under anesthesia. Another person, who went by the name Ms. Priscilla O.,
made contradictory claims, first saying he died in the hospital and then saying
he died at home.
In light of these
inconsistencies, the family has reached out to the German Federal Foreign
Office in Berlin, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) in Wiesbaden, and
the German Embassy in Accra in order to help ensure an impartial and open
investigation. Additionally, they have urged the Ghana Police CID to
interrogate individuals responsible.
The family stressed in
their statement that they "seek truth, justice, and transparency"
regarding the unexplained death of their beloved Charles Kwadwo Fosuh,
expressing their profound sorrow and concern.
