Following disastrous
floods that seriously damaged its head office in Accra, the National Peace
Council (NPC) is requesting immediate assistance from the government,
businesses, and the general public.
On June 29, 2026,
floodwaters from heavy rains flooded a number of offices, including the
Executive Secretary's office and numerous directorates. This catastrophe
severely disrupted the Council's regular operations by destroying crucial
office furniture, technological equipment, and official papers.
In an urgent attempt to
reduce the overall loss, Executive Secretary Dr. George Amoh and his team
sought to recover what they could. Dr. Amoh characterized the devastation as a
major setback to the institution's vital mission despite their diligent efforts.
In order to resume their vital work of encouraging communication and conflict
prevention throughout Ghana, the Council now requires assistance in replacing
destroyed objects.
Dr. Amoh is dedicated to
the Council's constitutional role notwithstanding these obstacles. He is
optimistic that the NPC would soon recover and carry on its efforts to uphold
social cohesion and peace for the entire country with the help of well-meaning
people and partners.
