In an effort to assist families impacted by the recent
terrible floods, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is
starting a large relief distribution operation today, Saturday, July 4.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in Charge of
Government Communications, announced this initiative during a news conference
this past Friday at the Jubilee House.
In order to help individuals who have lost their homes,
belongings, or loved ones—particularly in the most severely affected parts of
the Greater Accra Region—the government is giving priority to these supplies.
Although some affected villages have already received
emergency relief supplies, the administration is making sure that more
shipments will soon reach other afflicted locations. The government is still
totally dedicated to helping every displaced family until their lives return to
normal, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stressed.
In order to expedite recovery efforts, he also asked the
people to remain watchful, heed all safety instructions, and work closely with
emergency response organizations. The government has promised to reconstruct
these towns to be far more resilient against future catastrophes while teams
continue to analyze the massive damage.
