A fire at Adonten Senior
High School was successfully contained by firefighters from the Aburi and
Akropong stations, preventing it from spreading outside the science block.
The House Master's office
and a school storeroom were severely damaged when the fire broke out on
Saturday, July 4. The Ghana National Fire Service reports that the fire
destroyed a number of school supplies, including books, uniforms,
administrative equipment, and many electronic gadgets.
Despite the loss,
emergency teams managed to salvage library books and crucial gardening tools.
At first, university staff and students tried to put out the fire on their own,
but they were unable to do so before assistance could come.
Thankfully, no fatalities
or injuries were reported during the incident. As authorities try to determine
the full extent of the damage, the Ghana National incident Service has verified
that investigations are presently under progress to determine the precise cause
of the incident.
