For our hard-working
cocoa producers nationwide, good news has arrived. The administration has
firmly decided not to lower the producer price despite a concerning decline in
global cocoa prices. This decision acts as a crucial barrier, safeguarding the
earnings and means of subsistence of farmers who have already had an extremely
trying year.
According to COCOBOD Head
of Public Affairs Jerome Sam, this choice prioritises the welfare of our
farmers. He clarified that the conventional method in Ghana establishes a
producer price at the beginning of the season, which is supposed to be constant
throughout. The administration is dedicated to preserving stability going
ahead, despite the unique difficulties this year presented that necessitated
some challenging changes back in February.
Authorities are showing a strong commitment to helping the people who are the foundation of Ghana's economy by opting to maintain the present pricing.
This action gives agricultural families much-needed piece of mind by guaranteeing that the diligent workers who support our country's most significant sector won't be unjustly punished by erratic changes in the world market.
It is a deliberate
strategy that gives our local producers priority during these trying times.
