A village in
Nigeria is shocked by a daring attack on an immigration checkpoint. The Balia
village post in the Borgu Local Government Area was overrun by armed men riding
motorcycles on Tuesday morning, March 17, 2026.
Officers
were overcome in broad daylight by the attackers, who are thought to have
crossed from the Benin Republic border. They captured two loaded AK-47 weapons
and kidnapped Umar Yusuf, an officer, during the conflict. The situation is
still tense as local hunters and vigilantes join security authorities in a
high-stakes rescue operation, even though one officer managed to flee.
