Two Salaga Midwives Granted Bail in Missing Newborn Case | www.lotalghana.org | www.byqwesi.com

Two midwives connected to a newborn baby's disappearance have been granted bail by the Tamale Circuit Court. Many families have been devastated by the tragedy, which has rocked the East Gonja Municipality.

Frank Atanga, 52, and Mariam Mohammed, 32, are the accused. Both are employed in Salaga's East Gonja District Hospital. They are accused of kidnapping and conspiracy to steal.

The case was ruled upon by Her Honor Afua Srakubea Agyeman-Darbu. She gave each midwife GH¢150,000 in bail. Additionally, each must supply two sureties. Before the bail becomes effective, the sureties must fulfill all court requirements.

The two, according to the prosecution, were involved in the baby's disappearance. The complete evidence has not yet been presented in public court, though. Until proven guilty, the midwives are currently innocent.

The missing infant has garnered a lot of attention. Many locals are concerned and seek clarification. They are demanding a thorough and impartial investigation. They hope that justice will be done and the truth will be revealed.

The case has been postponed by the court. On July 9, 2026, Frank Atanga and Mariam Mohammed are required to return. The community waits until then, praying for resolution and the child's safe return.
