Agoba Maria, a
Nigerian female soldier, has courageously come forward with a grave and
upsetting plea. She is making direct demands of the Nigerian Army's highest
command and the President. Maria alleges that senior officials in the service
have mistreated her severely and persistently.
Her tragic story
implies that she was targeted for a very private and distressing cause. She
argues that she lacks significant connections—a "godfather"—and,
critically, she refuses to give in to unwanted demands. She alleges that she
was coerced into having sex with senior personnel.
Maria claims that the
circumstances eventually grew so intolerable that she made the decision to
leave the Army on her own volition. She has spent thirteen years serving her
country. She asserts that the intimidation persisted even after she left the
service.
Maria relates a
disturbing intensification of the alleged abuse. The officeers allegedly made
threats against her life. She claims she was imprisoned in a guard room during
one horrifying episode, and amazingly, her three-year-old child was with her.
She further claims that a private soldier was then told to attack her and her
young child.
There was more to the
ordeal. Maria says she was suddenly charged with the same assault following
this claimed attack. She was charged with assaulting the private soldier who
had allegedly abused her and threatening senior superiors. In addition to all
of this annoyance, she says she was later demoted from her position and denied
access to her own child.
Her former coworkers
are now allegedly attempting to hurt her even more. Even after she officially
resigned and was awarded a voluntary resignation certificate, she believes they
are attempting to cancel her certificate. If they succeed, she believes she
will be fully stripped of her service perks after 13 years of dedication to the
Army. Agoba Maria is pleading with the highest authorities for justice and
protection.
